The Next Step
When I talk with clients or potential clients about their business goals and marketing strategy, there comes a point in the conversation that I can almost see the weight of their To Do list in their eyes.
The many ways you can approach marketing is like an ocean. It’s a lot if you take it in all at once. However, that’s not the plan.
Instead, think of it as a walk along the beach
- one step at a time.
Just as your business takes time to develop, so does a sustainable marketing strategy. It takes time for two reasons.
1. Unless you have a team of experts, there is only so much one or two people can do in a week to accomplish your goals.
2. Even if you can crank out a ton of work, your audience won’t immediately catch on to what you’re doing.
So what can you do when the To Do list seems overwhelming? One thing at a time.
My encouragement to you is to make compounding your new favorite word.
Move the needle a little bit every day.
The concept of compounding efforts comes from the book The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. The idea is that you are either working toward good things and success or away from them.
So everyday, make choices to move toward your goals. Put less emphasis on make huge changes sometimes and more emphasis on consistent and regular changes.
